Joan Walsh of Salon.com seems to have a sick thing for Governor Palin.
In her latest vitriol, she rips the governor and says, “I believe Palin would be a menace as commander in chief, and she’s got to get off the GOP ticket.” http://www.salon.com/opinion/walsh/election_2008/2008/09/30/palin_gaffes/.
If I understand Walsh correctly, she has no problem with a totally inept and inexperienced guy at the top of the Dem ticket but a Republican woman as McCain’s running mate would be a menace?
Methinks liberal women are just terrified of an attractive conservative woman on the ticket. They’re just not used to competence, … Read the rest
As a survivor of Catholic upbringing, former altar boy, choir boy, and after eight years of Catholic elementary school, four years of Catholic high school, four years of Catholic college, and umpteen years of Catholic post-graduate studies, I think I’m entitled to comment on the state of Catholicism today.
When I say I’m a survivor, I don’t mean to imply that I survived anything but normal life in Catholic schools. I survived in the sense that I never succumbed to what I can call excessive Catholicity, an embrace of policies antithetical to the best interests of America.
Normal Catholic schooling … Read the rest
Act now, view these videos on YouTube, and spread them around before YouTube yanks them as it did the earlier expose’ of Democratic culpability for our financial meltdown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiEWCnpNnBQ&eurl=http://www.kyleanneshiver.com/.… Read the rest
Will Rogers, the Garrison Keillor of a distant generation, famously said that he wasn’t a member of any organized political party, since he was a Democrat, and that people should invest in real estate since it’s the only thing not being made anymore.
In this market, I wouldn’t invest in real estate, or bonds, or most common stocks; I’d buy gold, silver, and other precious metals and stuff them under your mattress until things shake out. (See: http://money.aol.com/.)

My grandfather often repeated the old saw that people should never discuss religion or politics since those topics often resulted in endless conflict with never a chance of resolution.
That advice goes back a good while since I’m a gramps myself now. I’ve never abided by it anyway since both religion and politics are sources of excellent discussion.
The advice is passe’ today but if politics and religion were still off-limits in 2008, another more volatile subject would have to be added to the injunction, namely, race.
To mention a person’s race either directly or indirectly today can raise more … Read the rest
California is said to lead the way when it comes to cultural upheavals. At least that used to be the case before Governors Grey Davis and Ahnold turned the place into a socialist paradise driving industry to Nevada and driving taxpayers to distraction.
It’s bad enough that English has been relegated to a secondary language out on the Left Coast, supplanted by Espanol. It’s bad enough that the “Nation of Aztlan” has designs on “reclaiming” California, and most of our Southwest for Mexico. It’s bad enough that California is home to that bastion of Leftist “thought,” Hollywood, where actors and … Read the rest
All that talk about this being a watershed election year may be overblown.
At least based on reports that no records were set in viewers watching the first presidential debate, most people were more interested in watching something else than watching McCain and Obama square off last Thursday. http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/09/debate-ratings.html.
If that proves accurate, this statistic skeptic thinks the numbers could mean a number of things.
Either the mass of people are suffering from election overload due to the longest primary season in history or the Obama camp hasn’t ignited a blaze under as many new voters as it had … Read the rest
I’m not sure what’s going on with Governor Sarah Palin.
I should re-phrase that to, What’s going on with regard to Governor Palin?
Sarah Palin hasn’t changed an iota in the last month since her designation as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee, but ever since the Obamarmy of character assassins/lawyers descended upon Alaska, her mainstream coverage has gone from initial infatuation to vile insinuation to positively nasty.
That’s a pretty fair barometer of Leftist feelings: They’re terrified of Sarah!
The preliminary attacks focused on her attractiveness and scant experience of two years as governor and six years as mayor of … Read the rest
Two different acorns:
