Roman Polanski Taken Into  At first blush, the announcement by Swiss Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf not to extradite Franco-Polish film director Roman Polanski back to the United States to face punishment for the 1977 rape and sodomy of a 13 year old would seem a miscarriage of justice on the part of the Swiss government.

In fact, it is that and more but the miscarriage was aided and abetted by none other than the United States Department of Justice, Eric Holder, Attorney General.

Apparently, the pressure exerted by the Hollywood Lobby, a prime constituency and financial supporter of the Obama administration, was too much to resist and the DOJ failed to cooperate with the Swiss in providing evidence in the case.

Polanski was originally charged with rape, sodomy, child molestation and supplying illicit drugs to a minor for seducing and brutally attacking Samantha Geimer.

Samantha Geimer  Now 45, Geimer has forgiven him and doesn’t want him prosecuted.  She has made no mention of hush money.

He pled guilty to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, was convicted, served a brief time in a psychiatric hospital, and fled the country in 1978, on the day he suspected  the judge was prepared to send him to state prison for a period more commensurate with his crimes.

For the outrageous details on what happened between the 43 year old Polanski and the teenager–which he claimed was all consensual, with a 13 year old!–see this ABC News report based on the victim’s testimony: “Roman Polanski: What Did He Do?”

He did plenty according to that sworn testimony, more than enough to have him incarcerated for years and then labelled a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Enter Hollywood.

Tinseltown’s biggies, always ready to accept the minor peccadillos of its own, protested his 2009 arrest in Switzerland on an outstanding U.S. warrant pending an extradition hearing.  He had let his ego get the best of him and went to Zurich to accept a lifetime achievement award.

Presumably, that achievement did not incorporate pedophilia.  Or maybe it did.

Polanski awaited his hearing cavorting under “house arrest” at his Gstaad chalet while his Hollywood buddies, including Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, and, of course, fellow predator, Woody Allen, campaigned for his release.

The DOJ heard the wails from Hollywood and so too did the Swiss: “In a statement, the Swiss Justice Ministry said it had requested that the U.S. supply records of a January hearing by the public prosecutor who was in charge of the case in the 1970s. According to the ministry, the records would prove that Polanski had already served sufficient time in the psychiatric unit of a Californian prison and that ‘both the proceedings on which the U.S. extradition request is founded and the request itself would have no foundation.’ “:

In other words, the Ministry blatantly conceded it wanted information on those proceedings not to further its investigation into the merits of the extradition request but as evidence to prove its preconception that there was no foundation for extradition.

Eric Holder’s Department of Justice, which had recently shown in the New Black Panther case that its view of “justice” was racially skewed, now showed it was also celebrity skewed.

The DOJ made things easy for the Swiss ministry and refused to furnish those records knowing full well that that inaction would be sufficient cause for the Swiss to refuse to extradite.

Score: Polanski, Pedophilia, Hollywood: One.  Justice: Zero.

It’s not known whether the Swiss or the DOJ considered the recent claim of British actress Charlotte Lewis that she had been molested in Paris by Polanski when she was 16.  Lewis failed to report the molestation for the same reason Geimer was hesitant, she wanted to be a star.  Charlotte Lewis is a famous

Roman Polanski serial pedophile?  Nah.

Who knows how many other child victims wanting to be stars are out there?  Only the Hollywood pedophiles know for sure.
