Lame Duck   You’ll never go broke betting on the treachery and deceitfulness of politicians.

We saw a classic example last week with the unemployment extension which Democrats could have passed on their own but instead insisted on a two-thirds vote rather than a simple majority in order to embarrass the Republicans three months before the elections.

It lost, as per the Dem plan.

Democrats seem to be plotting more treacherous shenanigans with regard to the amnesty for illegals issue, something Obama and his storm troopers would love to grant in order to garner millions more votes when amnesty is followed by citizenship.  And what better time could there be to pull off that scam than during a lame duck session following November 2nd should the Democrats lose the House?

Charles Krauthammer suggests that ousted and retiring Dems, with nothing to lose and no backlash to face, could use those 2 1/2 months before the 112th congress convenes in January to foist all kinds of ideologically controversial laws on the American people before they vacate the premises:  “Among the major items being considered are card check, budget-balancing through major tax hikes and climate-change legislation involving heavy carbon taxes and regulation:”

Krauthammer omitted one other trick up Democrats’ sleeves–granting ”a non-legislative version of amnesty” to save illegal immigrants from deportation.  As of now, that scheme is in the preliminary stages and is being denied by the same people who dreamed it up.

The Washington Times is reporting that government functionaries have proposed the idea in an 11 page draft memo which fell into the hands of Iowa Republican senator Charles Grassley:  “The memo, addressed to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Alejandro Mayorkas and written by four agency staffers, lists tools it says the administration has to “reduce the threat of removal” for many illegal immigrants who have run afoul of immigration authorities.”

The Times continues, “The memo suggests that in-depth discussions have occurred on how to keep many illegal immigrants in the country, which would be at least a temporary alternative to the proposals Democrats in Congress have made to legalize illegal immigrants.”

In other words, why endure the agony of immigration reform?  Use executive fiat to bypass Congress and escape the scrutiny of the American people, a large majority of whom oppose amnesty.  The memo refers to targeted illegals such as students and minors but would represent an unprecented first step toward a broader immigration “reform” which could legalize millions.

Such a ploy would be right up Obama’s alley and in synch with his propensity toward dictatorial rule.  With the Democrat lame ducks all in a congressional row they would be in position to squelch any Republican opposition to this “back door to amnesty.”

Naturally, the USCIS denies such skullduggery, alleging the memo is “notional and pre-decisional,” government-speak for just brainstorming by its staff.

It’s merely an odd coincidence, then, that “the Department of Homeland Security last month denied to that it had any plans to grant blanket amnesty to the ‘entire illegal immigrant population.’ “  However, DHS ”did not address the possibility of giving a selective reprieve to the segment of the population holding expired visas–as opposed to those who crossed into the country illegally:”

Rosemary Jenks, of NumbersUSA, said the memo is “an outrageous usurpation of congressional authority. It is unconstitutional, and a slap in the face to the American people.”  She added, “the memo could explain why the push for an immigration bill has faltered in Congress:”

Will the Party of the People stoop so low as to finagle amnesty during a lame duck session and thereby ignore the wishes of the people rather than go through all the folderol of passing a law?

You betcha!
