The Society of Professional Journalists on Journalistic Integrity: “Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. Conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist’s credibility. Members of the Society share a dedication to ethical behavior and adopt this code to declare the Society’s principles and standards of practice.”
Regrettably, and obviously, all journalists are not members of the SPJ.
Anyone who has ever harbored any doubts that the mainstream media is a left wing media, that it censors and distorts stories that conflict with its established liberal biases, that it’s a shameful embarrassment to the fundamental purposes of decent journalism should have had those doubts dispelled by the coverage, and lack of coverage, of the story that broke last Friday.
Indeed, the story has been out there for months, starting in July when Department of Justice attorney J. Christian Adams first revealed the seamy tale of black racism at the DoJ and that executive department’s disgraceful mishandling of the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation case.Â
Most of the MSM intentionally missed the boat on Adams’ revelations and compounded that grave journalistic sin of omission by skipping the new revelations by another Justice attorney, Chris Coates.
Coates went before the United States Civil Rights Commission and, defying the orders of his superiors, testified under oath to a whole host of negative charges against our Department of Justice. Coates swore under oath that:
 . The DoJ gutted the case against the NBPP militants strictly on racial grounds;
 .  A racist culture at Justice discouraged “race neutral” prosecution of civil rights laws;
. That culture intensified under AG Eric Holder and President Obama;
. The department succumbed to minority group pressures;
. Obama appointee Loretta King ordered him to stop asking department job applicants whether they supported a race-neutral enforcement of the Voters’ Rights Act;
. The DoJ has failed to pursue “the goal of equal protection under the law for all people:” http://tiny.cc/jihx8
In other words, Coates issued an explosive and broad indictment of our Justice Department’s racist  breach of duty, blockbuster charges coming from a highly respected department attorney, charges and testimony that were virtually ignored by the mainstream media.
The old journalistic saw that man bites dog constitutes news because it is extraordinary and unusual should have been reason enough for the MSM to report on that expose’ of blatant and official injustice in America’s Justice Department.Â
The only possible way the story was not newsworthy would have to be that the mass media considered injustice at Justice to be the accepted norm, sort of like accepting a persistent anti-commerce atmosphere at the Department of Commerce, a rabid bias against students at Education, or a commitment to discriminate against  farmers at Agriculture.
The original whistle-blower at the Justice Department, J. Christian Adams, closely followed Coates’ testimony and the MSM’s reactions and inaction.Â
In his article, “Coates Exposes Intellectual Bankruptcy of MSM, Obama Admin,” written for PajamasMedia.com, Adams notes the total disregard for Coates’ testimony by ABC, CBS, and NBC, as if ignoring the story meant it never happened.Â
Adams also reviews the reactions of the leftist blogosphere and Obama lackeys and concluded that “This is the dirty little secret we knew all along: people like Mary Jacoby, former Assistant Attorney General Loretta King, and Professor Allan Lichtman really don’t believe the protections of the law apply to whites.”
None of them dispute Coates’ veracity and few of them even discuss the content of his testimony.
Aside from the additional damage done to the integrity of the Department of Justice and to the all-but-nonexistent integrity of the mainstream media, perhaps the saddest player in this scandalous mess is DOJ spokesperson, Tracy Schmaler.
Adams writes that she seems to have become “unhinged” as a result of “having to defend the indefensible.”Â
He adds, “I have spoken with numerous media sources who say that she acts unprofessionally. She explodes, yelling when discussing the scandal. Another individual with personal contact with Schmaler reports she becomes irrationally agitated when the New Black Panther scandal is brought up, even in casual conversation. . . Schmaler also attacked the United States Commission on Civil Rights. Eric Holder should teach her some manners, respect for the institution she represents, and the importance of not misleading reporters:”  http://tiny.cc/1jy6r
Someone should teach the DoJ and the MSM the same lessons.
