It’s rare, very rare, for a world leader to intentionally expose himself or herself to the slings and arrows of ingrained thought and denounce a feature of that thought as something that has “utterly failed.” It’s the antithesis of political correctness yet German Chancellor Angela Merkel has chosen that rocky and treacherous path in her admission that the international social experiment known as multiculturalism is a total failure.
The social fad of multiculturalism is defined by the Columbia Encyclopedia as “cultural pluralism, a term describing the coexistence of many cultures in a locality, without any one culture dominating the region. By making the broadest range of human differences acceptable to the largest number of people, multiculturalism seeks to overcome racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination.”
Wikipedia tweaks that definition by adding, “Multiculturalism is the acceptance or promotion of multiple ethnic cultures, . . . multiculturalists advocate extending equitable status to distinct ethnic and religious groups without promoting any specific ethnic, religious, and/or cultural community values as central. The policy of multiculturalism is often contrasted with the concepts assimilationism and social integration. Multiculturalism is seen by its supporters as a fairer system that allows people to truly express who they are within.”
Isn’t multiculturalism really a variation on the Biblical tale of the Tower of Babel? And won’t it inevitably lead to a similar fate?
Both definitions may instill warm, fuzzy feelings but both omit essential factors, notably nationalism, patriotism and realism.Â
Fully cognizant of those factors but committed to imposing multiculturalism on the hoi polloi anyway, the leaders of our Western civilization have been attempting for decades to foist the flawed concept on their unwilling countrymen. And it worked, sort of, on a limited scale, among committed multiculturalists,
Out in the real world, most don’t in any way agree with Wikipedia that it’s a “fairer system” and really don’t give a damn about how foreigners in their lands get to “truly express who they are within” while natives are forced to suck it up and adapt to those interlopers.
Chancellor Merkel is to be commended for calling a spade a spade, a failure a failure, rather than forcing Germans to continue to live the lie that multiculturalism is good for Germans and Germany rather than the United Nations-inspired scam. sham, and fraud that it is: http://tiny.cc/919vv
With four million immigrant Muslims, including 2.5 million Turks, in her midst, people who refuse to learn the national language, people who won’t because they can’t assimilate, people who demand that they, strangers in a strange land, be permitted to retain their Islamic practices and culture in the middle of a fundamentally Christian, germanic culture, Merkel finally bowed to the truth that the idealized idea of multicultural pluralism may seem acceptable in principle but in practice is abysmal.Â
She seems fine in abandoning the Christian part, but adamant in fighting for the German part.
As commendable as her position is, Merkel isn’t quite ready to draw that crucially important line in the sand and insist that Muslims must assimilate or get out. She may be looking to other European nations, such as France, England, Netherlands, Sweden, and Belgium, and others who have an equal or larger percentage of Muslims, to draw that line first.Â
Don’t hold your breath waiting for that, Angie. Those other nations are as scared as Germany is that Islam is planning on Islamifiying Europe and declaring an Islamoeuropia and, like Hollywood and America’s MSM, they don’t want to invite Islam’s ire. They also refuse to challenge that assumed inevitability.
Especially don’t bank on Europe’s customary rescue by America. We’re almost as bad off as Europe is, worse when you consider the United States is currently being “led” by a suspected Muslim and a known incompetent.Â
Multiculturalism’s death rattle may not be heard until after the death rattles emanate from those nations which adopted that misbegotten cultural philosophy.Â
When you hear your Muslim neighbor quote Muhammad Atta and scream, “Allahu akbar!” that might be a good time to move or to head for a bomb shelter and contemplate the true meaning of multiculturalism.
