The ancient Chinese proverb, “May you live in interesting times,” is a double-edged sword meaning both good wishes and a damning curse. We live in far more interesting times than any Chinese philosopher could possibly have envisioned and keeping up with our curses is daunting.  Â
It’s virtually impossible in our 24/7/365 news world to keep abreast of everything going on. However, to keep readers updated on recent posts here, I’ll give it a a shot today with updates on recent items posted here regarding twisted heterophobe and a revelation on an historic charade. (More fascinating updates will follow.)
DAN SAVAGE. The aptly-named heterophobe who exploited an invite to address high school students on the hot-button issue of bullying when he quickly veered into an attack on the Bible, Christianity, and straight kids, is now saying he was misinterpreted. Â
Savage still maintains that “we can learn to ignore the bulls**t in the Bible about gay people” but is offended that anyone would misconstrue that and other vile remarks.  As he twittered,xx “an attack on Christianity. Which is bullshhh . . . which is untrue” which is in itself bulls**t and a lie.” Â
Immediately following those “apologies,” Savage launched into a foul-mouthed tiradexx against the Pope and Catholic doctrine–in a chapel, yet!Â
In his almost inimitable fashion Savage ranted, “What the Pope is saying is that the only thing that stands between my [expletive deleted] and Brad Pitt’s mouth is a piece of paper . . . that once we’re all gay-married we’re going to go extinct in a generation because . . . we’re gonna forget which hole [expletive deleted] babies.â€Â (http://bit.ly/KNndzl)Â
Dan Savage would be amusing were he not so pathetically vicious even as his fellow homosexuals attempt to imply they are normal. Normality implies some conformity with normal values, no?Â
Evidently, the Obama administration believes Savage and his associates are normal since they and other Democrats have warmly embraced Savage, so to speak. (http://bit.ly/JBdg53)
OBAMACARE. If killing Osama bin Laden is our president’s most significant foreign affairs achievement, passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, is surely his greatest, though disgraceful, domestic accomplishment. Â
By now, most Americans–75% of whom opposed its passage–are familiar with the shameful machinations Obama and his Democrat congress utilized to foist socialistic medicine on the United States two years ago. From the ultra-partisan, closed-door planning sessions, to the crass bribes, to the outrageous lies, to House Speaker Pelosi’s amazing confession that no one had read the massive bill before voting on it, Obamacare has been tainted.  Â
By design, many of the most onerous features of the PPACA won’t kick in until well after the 2012 election.Â
Imposition of increased taxes, premiums, and penalties, physician reimbursement predicated on arbitrary governmental determination of “quality,” the oft-denied requisite “death panels,” the denial of patient choice of doctors, et al. won’t be fully implemented until the perpetrator of the Obamacare abomination is re-elected.Â
However, truth often seeps through governmental morass as with the revelation that Medicare savings will be effected not by any real reduction in expenses but by the administration’s creation of a slush fund which, just coincidentally, will delay increased costs and end “choice” after November.
As PowerLine.com points out, “The Medicare Advantage cuts were to begin in 2013, which would cause many insurers to pull out of the program, thus driving seniors into regular Medicare. So much for ‘if you like your plan, you can keep it’ . . . Obama simply took $8.35 billion from a Obamacare fund for ‘demonstration projects’ and used it to delay the brunt of the Medicare Advantage cuts until after the election.” (http://bit.ly/Io4OI1)Â
Evidently our president is not only a master of deceit but a master of prestidigitation who can magically transform an added expense into no expense at all–until financial reality for seniors comes home to roost.Â
We truly live in interesting, and transparently corrupt, times.
