Facebook’s recent suspension of the NaturalNews.com account for posting a quotation from page 446 of Mohandas Gandhi, An Autobiography in which the noted pacifist observed, “Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest,” gave fair warning that the liberal establishment will brook no opposition to its mindless campaign against gun ownership/possession in America.
Forget Sen. Obama’s 2008 campaign pledge in Lebanon, Virginia that ”When you all go home and you’re talking to your buddies and you say, ah ‘He wants to take my gun away.’ You’ve heard it here, I’m on television so everybody knows it. I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people’s lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won’t take your handgun away.” (http://tinyurl.com/bzmfjyd)
Forget the facts that Sen. Harry Reid has said he never goes anywhere without a gun and that half the players in the NFL carry illegal or legal weapons.
Forget the facts that MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, Michael Moore, Rosie O’Donnell, and most Hollywood types and their families are protected by gun-toting guards.
Forget the fact that a bevy of armed guards ensure the safety of local, state, and federal politicians as well as those who work for them.
Democrat liberals–which include the majority of the above and who never miss a chance use fear to trample on the Constitution–have vowed to strip all guns away from all Americans–with the possible exceptions of all the above and the probable exception of criminals who somehow escape their notice.
Writing in the twentieth century, Gandhi was merely reiterating thoughts expressed in the eighteenth century by our Founding Fathers to the effect that depriving the citizenry of weapons is tantamount to surrendering one’s right to self-defense as well as to relinquishing the right to resist political and/or military oppression.
As Thomas Jefferson wrote, “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
As George Washington wrote, “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference–they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”
As Alexander Hamilton wrote, “The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”
And, as prolific conservative author and acerbic talk show host Mark Levin said in the twenty-first century, amid all the crazed hullabaloo over senseless shootings in Colorado, Connecticut, and elsewhere: The Second Amendment is not about target shooting or hunting or anything else in that realm but rather, whether we liked or agreed with it or not, the purpose of that amendment “is to arm the population in order to overthrow a tyrannical government. That’s it.” (http://tinyurl.com/aq949m3)
The concept of resisting and overthrowing government with weaponry other than through speech and the written word against that government is as foreign to Americans as violence and violent upheaval are familiar to many Muslim lands. Therefore, resorting to playing on the eventuality of our ousting our current tyrants by force of arms is a non-starter as an excuse to disarm law-abiding Americans. Instead, those tyrants play on the fears generated by such atrocities as Sandy Hook.
Instead, liberal-leftists–led by their liberal-leftist Commander in Chief–are cynically and skillfully exploit that massacre to gain their ultimate objective of depriving citizens of their constitutional right “to keep and bear arms.”
The left purposefully disregards FBI evidence that we are more likely to be killed with someone’s “hands/feet/fists” than with a rifle or assault weapon. They intentionally disregard even a December New York Times article, “History of Gun Control Is Cautionary Tale for Those Seeking Regulations after Conn. Shooting” which indicated that meaningful restrictions have little chance of passage.
Rather, they opt to hypocritically advocate for their immediate goal of disarming America through confiscation if need be as preface to their ultimate goal of rendering us impotent to resist the power grab of President Obama seeking a third, fourth, president-for-life terms in office by repealing the 22nd Amendment, as proposed by Democrat Rep. Jose Serrano.
As usual, libs are also oblivious of the ironies always lurking in the Law of Unintended Consequences: Obama’s reelection combined with threats of disarmament have resulted in skyrocketing sales of handguns, rifles, and the very semi-automatic weapons liberals most sought to restrict.
Compounding what should but won’t be an embarrassment to libnuts, the Sacramento Bee reported that “Gun deaths and injuries have dropped sharply in California, even as the number of guns sold in the state has risen, . . . Dealers sold 600,000 guns in California last year, up from 350,000 in 2002, . . . [and] During that same period, the number of California hospitalizations due to injuries declined from about 4,000 annually to 2,900, a roughly 25 percent drop, . . . [and] Firearm-related deaths fell from about 3,200 annually to about 2,800, an 11 percent drop.” (http://tinyurl.com/bo3su3w)
In fact, Americans have been buying guns at gun shows and retail outlets in unprecedented numbers for the dual purpose of self defense and, very conceivably, to take up arms against an oppressive government.
Adding to the anti-gun mania, Obama operatives have been tireless in spreading their lies.
. The government condom-dependent, childless Sandra Fluke tweeted: “Beyond availability of assault weapons & not mental health services, another contributing factor: how we raise boys.” (As if she would know.)
. CNN’s Don Lemon, while failing to note that violence and murders in America are disproportionately committed by blacks, suggested profiling white men in order to prevent gun violence since white males between the ages of 18 and 25 were behind nearly all recent mass killings.
. Over-achieving University of Pennsylvania Professor Althea Butler outrageously declared on MSNBC that people against gun control are scared of “black and brown people” rising up.
I don’t fear “black and brown people” rising up nearly as much as I fear idiots like Althea Butler and Sandra Fluke and Don Lemon and phony politicians who say one thing and do another nearly as much as I fear for my country’s future when people believe such boobs.
Professor Butler seems to think her affirmative action position conferred a twisted wisdom, Sandra Fluke obviously craves a boy of any age, and, as for Don Lemon, he needs to read more and get over his black racism. So, too, do anti-gun libnuts need to get over their fixation on guns and accept the validity of the albeit trite maxim that “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.”
