CBS News’ announcement last August that investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson’s personal computer had been hacked by “an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions” wasn’t the first indicator that something was seriously amiss between CBS and Attkisson.
Oddly or not so oddly, the network has yet to determine just who was responsible though unproven suspicions run deep that Attkisson’s computer was hacked either by someone at CBS or by agents of President Barack Hussein Obama. After all, who had more to gain?
Following a cursory investigation, CBS spokeswoman Sonya McNair said, ”Evidence suggests this party performed all access remotely using Attkisson’s accounts. While no malicious code was found, forensic analysis revealed an intruder had executed commands that appeared to involve search and exfiltration of data. This party also used sophisticated methods to remove all possible indications of unauthorized activity, and alter system times to cause further confusion.”
It seems the intruding party in question was something of an expert at the fine art of hacking.
For obvious reasons, McNair failed to mention that Attkisson was widely known as the White House’s “most feared reporter” or that her employer is widely recognized as one of the president’s more rabid supporters.
The married, 53 year old Attkisson, a veteran, 20 year CBS employee who boasts a third degree taekwondo black belt, was finally allowed to resign on March 10th after unsuccessfuly attempting to break her contract a year ago. She didn’t intimidate Obama with her martial arts skills but rather by her distinctively no-nonsense approach to getting at the truth in news stories, truth he and his minions didn’t especially like.
Just coincidentally, she had been doggedly investigating the murderous debacle in Benghazi–after exposing the “Fast and Furious” and Solyndra cover-up scandals–when her computer was hacked.
With the hacking done and with little else to be gained, CBS News agreed to release Attkisson from her contract but not without Obama’s dedicated Internet acolyte, Politico.com, jumping to the fore to cast aspersions on her journalistic integrity in an attack reminiscent of Obama’s Justice Department’s baseless, criminal investigation of Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “co-conspirator” for allegedly soliciting classified information.
Politico’s Justin Byers stopped short of accusing Attkisson of criminality and contented himself, for now, with trying to undermine her stellar reputation.
He mentioned her understandable frustrations over the network’s “liberal bias, an outsize influence by the network’s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting.”
Byers then moved on to his real purpose, trashing her objections by citing un-named ”staffers” who characterized her work as “agenda-driven” which allegedly “led network executives to doubt the impartiality of her reporting,” thus effectively negating the award-winning correspondent’s justifiable complaints about CBS.
The whole, laughable CBS-Attkisson affair drips with irony considering that her former network, along with most of Obama’s mainstream media, have been unabashedly “agenda-driven” with regard to the president and toward his conservative opposition, covering up the multiple scandals surrounding this administration even as they consistently ignore, dismiss, and ridicule conservatives and conservative points of view.
On Friday during an interview on Phoenix’ Talk Radio 1210 WPHT concerning reporters, politicians, government, and the current state of investigative reporting, Attkisson voiced her opinion on the White House’s latest scandal, Press Secretary Jay Carney’s unusual approach to transparency, i.e., screening select reporters’ Daily Briefing questions and providing his answers in advance.
As she said, “I wouldn’t surprised if sometimes there is that level of cooperation with some questions.”
And, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sharyl Attkisson doesn’t move up a few notches on Obama’s Enemies List after his “most feared” reporter publishes her book in progress, tentatively-titled “Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington”.
Pending publication, feel free to visit her website at http://sharylattkisson.com/home.html. Or, you can continue to blithely think that America is still a free country despite all the scary evidence to the contrary.
