Sluts and racism would seem to be an odd mishmash of topics except that recent news items link them as elements of what’s seriously wrong in America.
SLUT is an ugly word designating a slovenly woman in Britain and a cheap, sexually promiscuous girl or woman in America, what UrbanDictionary.com defines as a skank, whore, and, in the hood, a “hoe” who is “too loose in the booty.” The word is made all the more ugly when we consider President Obama’s call for greater civility in public discourse and is uttered by one of his own, a committed leftist.Â
A little context: Laura Ingraham is a 47 year old, conservative radio talk show host and conservative political commentator and author of four best-selling books. Did I mention that she’s a conservative?Â
On the other side of the aisle–at the bottom of a squalid, slimy pit might be a better analogy–lurks MSNBC’s 57 year old, rabid, liberal attack dog and liberal commentator, Ed Schultz, who consistently plumbs the depths of humanity with his observations.
Did I mention Schultz is a liberal?Â
Anyway, he was talking about the weather the other day on MSNBC’s “The Ed Schultz Show” when he couldn’t resist a total non-sequitur and launched into a Republican-conservative assault accusing his nemeses of insensitivity toward victims of the recent, horrendous floods and tornadoes.Â
Where or how he came up with that I have no clue anymore than I have a clue as to why he viciously attacked Ms. Ingraham as a “right wing slut . . . yeah, she’s a talk slut.” I guess he didn’t get the Obama civility memo. It’s recommended that the viewer have a disinfectant handy but you can catch Schultz’s mini diatribe here: http://bit.ly/mU1IaOÂ
The MSNBC resident lunatic Schultz is no stranger to controversy. He is also no stranger to incivility. He previously ranted that, “The Republicans lie! They want to see you dead! They’d rather make money off your dead corpse!” and labeled former Vice President Cheney a “dirtbag” who should die and voiced his wish that Glenn Beck would commit suicide and called New Jersey Governor Chris Christie “a fat slob.”Â
All that and more were fine with MSNBC until Schultz’ slut slur. The station issued a statement on Thursday which read in part, “Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be toleratedâ€Â and suspended Schultz, for a week. (http://politi.co/jHVnzb)
Death wishes and ad hominem “fat slob” commentary are fully acceptable at MSNBC. Misogynistic references are not and call for reprimand.       Â
RACISM has been reprimanded, condemned, and decreed an even worse crime than misogyny, and treason, and is in the same category as the N-word, if not more repugnant. It has also been our current president’s first line of defense since he decided he had had sufficient experience after two whole years on the national stage to qualify him to run the whole show. Of course, his time as a community organizer on Chicago’s mean streets was another major qualification.Â
President Barack Hussein Obama rarely refers to the R-word when he is beset and beleagured by troubles, whether those troubles be an economy still wallowing in the doldrums or his unstimulating stimulus which has yet to put much of a dent in unemployment or his unending gaffes such as recently insulting the Queen of England and all of the UK by insisting on offering a gratuitous toast during their national anthem.Â
The Blame-Bush Ploy has been a much-used godsend for Obama and, although it’s gotten very old, is still an old reliable gambit. Racism, though, never gets old.Â
Racism was a mainstay in his 2008 campaign and can always be trotted out as a dependable excuse for everything that ails Obama now or in the future and is THE ticket for his re-election, even if he never refers to it. He doesn’t have to. His lackeys and acolytes carry that burden for him.Â
The latest to step up to the R-plate is House Assistant Democratic Leader Jim Clyburn, close ally to Obama, the highest-ranking African-American in Congress and this month’s designated racism water carrier.Â
The representative from South Carolina dispelled all speculation on why Obama is a failed president by blaming most, if not all, of his leader’s political problems on racism. Ruminating aloud to reporters on Obama’s re-election prospects, Clyburn declared, “I think they’re improving every day. I think the president has been a good president, a great commander in chief.”Â
He provided no substance for either opinion and the best guess is that his view on Obama’s improving prospects were based on wishful thinking and the “great commander in chief” observation was a reference to Seal Team Six’s rearrangement of Osama bin Laden’s head under orders from Leon Panetta.
Clyburn then dropped the R-bomb in responding to an unasked question: “You know, I’m 70 years old and I can tell you; people don’t like to deal with it, but the fact of the matter is, the president’s problems are in large measure because of his skin color.” He also noted “that he himself got hate mail, racist phone calls and offensive faxes on a regular basis.”Â
That may be possible, just as all public officials, unfortunately, get hate mail but, “Asked how that relates to the president, Clyburn retorted: ‘We have the same skin color; that’s how it relates to him.’ “Â (http://bit.ly/ifDOd9)
Ya gotta keep that R-word in mind!Â
Just in case his interviewers had forgotten, Clyburn reminded them of last month’s infamous, racist incident: “When he sees his face being put on a chimpanzee’s body; do you think he didn’t see that? And I suspect they send the same faxes to his office they send to mine.”Â
Feminists would contend there is little that is more vile than calling a woman, even a conservative woman such as Laura Ingraham, a slut, though feminazis generally afford wide latitude to liberals demonizing conservative women. Likewise, liberals, and especially black liberals, believe there is nothing lower than racism, though they make generous allowances toward black racism.Â
Presumably, it all depends on whether the sluts and racists are politically correct or not.    Â
